THE DRONE

My sound-art sits between noise and music, and sonically articulates spaces ranging from ritual sites to everyday settings. My sound sculptures, installations, and performances, amplify their immediate environment or relocate environments audibly and through different objects, exploring sonic memory and meaning by attuning us to overlooked or unheard noise, whether it’s the sound of a stone circle, medieval church, or prison cell. My work is informed by developments in music during the 20th Century, particularly Russolo’s manifesto “Art of Noises” (1913), where the realm of music began to be influenced by the everyday sonic environment.
